Breakout Sessions

SESSION 1: FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 9:00 A.M.
Gifted to Serve: Empowering Volunteers for Maximum Kingdom Impact
At CCC, we have been intentional about not just filling holes with people to meet volunteer needs. Instead we have developed curriculum to help our volunteers discover their giftedness, enabling us to place them in ministry roles that fit them best, encourage passionate service and minimize burnout. This course led by Kelli Wommack, will introduce the concept of GIFTED (Gifts, Interests and Abilities, Focus, Temperament, Experiences of Impact, and Design) and help your church/ministry learn how to place volunteers where they are truly gifted to serve.

A Cord of Three Strands
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your children's and student ministries – or any group of ministries, for that matter – communicated with each another and worked toward a common Kingdom goal? Imagine the effectiveness and energy a strong connection between ministries could create. This session features an open-forum discussion among CCC’s GROW Team – Brent Dumler, Cailey Dumler, Meghan Stewart and Laura Steiner – on what collaborative ministry can look like and how to implement it.

From Admin to Administry
Church administration is more than folding bulletins, making copies, scheduling appointments and sending emails. Administrators help visionaries lead, equippers follow through and the entire body of Christ accomplish the mission of the church. Learn from Brad Wilcox how to move your admin team from simply getting things done to becoming the vital ministry that the Bible says it was intended to be.

Creating a Culture of Authentic Relational Community through Small Groups
We believe small groups are the most viable strategy for creating a culture of authentic, relational community. In this session, Billy Gross will detail the vision, values, Biblical principles and structural approaches that are the foundation for 35 Community Groups at CCC, where our CONNECT Ministries’ mission is “learning to share authentic life together around Jesus.”

Intentional Discipleship: Recovering the Art of Making Disciples
The heart of Christ's Great Commission is “making disciples,” yet for many churches, intentional discipleship has become a lost art. Jesus’ own ministry emphasized relationship in learning to love God and others. Here Gill Price explores what might it look like if we engage in intentional discipleship in the local church with an eye toward equipping and developing maturity.

From Jerusalem to the Ends of the Earth – and Samaria too!
Using Matthew 9:35-10:1 as a Biblical foundation, this session led by Derrick Shields will look at the model that will allow us to become “Empowered Witnesses in our World.” Participants will be challenged to see how they can make a difference not only at home but literally to the uttermost parts of the world as well (Samaria included!).

SESSION 2: FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2:15 P.M.
For Senior Pastors Only
This breakout session is designed for senior/lead pastors to come together, ask questions and learn from each other. Pastor Keith Cowart will lead the discussion and expound on some of the key principles and points from the main session messages. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about leadership, staffing and other topics of interest. If you are a lead pastor, you won't want to miss this time!

Building T-E-A-Ms, One Block at a Time
Whether your church attendance is 100 or 2,000, building structurally sound teams is necessary for effective ministry. This session by Cailey Dumler, Laura Steiner and Rebekah Hunt will take a practical look at specific methods of pouring into individuals and groups through mentorship, equipping and more.

Lead Self or Lead None
Let's be honest: Ministry, whether full-time or part-time, has the potential to drain us. There is enough “work” from Monday to Sunday to keep us running constantly if we let it. But God did not design us for such “busyness,” and He does not expect it from us. This breakout by Brent Dumler will discuss the life of leadership and balance that God desires for us, and practical ways to live it out.

Developing Effective Community Group Leaders
We have developed multiple approaches to train and equip lay people for leading CCC Community Groups with vision and competence. At this session, attendees will hear from Billy Gross on how to raise up effective leaders for healthy small groups.

Valuing the Military in Your Church
Ministering in a military town, you likely have welcomed military families into your church. Yet some may be wary of military involvement in their congregation due to the brevity of military assignments. Join us as Gill Price discusses how to best care for and incorporate military families into your church. Engaging those families in the short term will have congregational impact – and in the long term, Kingdom impact.

The Faith Community's Response to Modern Slavery

How do faith communities engage fully in the mission of God to end modern slavery? This session by Kevin Austin will examine the problem, including some theological aspects – but mostly the workshop will look at how we engage. The Church, as God's representative on earth, has the power and opportunity to not only end modern slavery, but also to transform society in partnership with others. We engage from the place of community, centered on Jesus. Though the subject matter is difficult, this workshop will not be depressing; rather, it will be empowering!
SESSION 3: SATURDAY, MARCH 22, 9:00 A.M.

Leadership Development 101: Transforming Volunteers into Leaders
Does your ministry or church have plenty of volunteers but no leaders? Leadership development is about fostering a culture where leaders raise up leaders. In this session led by Kelli Wommack, you will learn to identify leadership potential, discover ways to implement leadership development and nurture a culture of reproducing leaders.

Making a Difference Where We Live
We are called to love people because God loves people. In this session, Derrick Shields will share the Biblical principles that have formed the foundation of CCC’s outreach strategy. Through practical examples and interactive discussion, participants will be challenged with bold new ideas of how we can make a difference in the lives of the people in our own neighborhood.

Reclaiming the Lost Generation: Engaging a Generation of Young Adults
Did you know that, according to the Barna Group, 75 percent of young people leave the Church after high school? Now, more than ever, it is crucial to make a space for young adults to grow and come to mature ownership of their faith within the Church. This session by Meghan Stewart will address the need, importance and logistics of cultivating an environment focused on creating adults who will forsake the world to follow Christ through a vision of intimacy, oneness and witness.

A Design for Worship
Need fresh ideas for your worship service? This practical, panel-led discussion by Jae Lesley and members of his team will equip you with easy-to-use ideas for creative, dynamic diverse worship services. The panel will share ideas for stage design, communion, call to worship, announcements, music and more.

Access for All: Leading a Ministry for Children with Special Needs
Children with disabilities, and the families who love them, are an important part of the body of Christ. But without a specialized ministry to provide these families access to traditional church settings, finding their place in the body can pose a challenge. To respond to this need, God is growing a ministry to serve these families. Shelley Walls will detail the processes for organizing a special needs ministry, implementing a curriculum and equipping volunteers, as well as strategies for addressing challenging behaviors.

Visit the Speakers page for information on the CCC staff members and volunteers who will lead these breakout sessions.
